Talk about some work, people! This One Room Challenge took six weeks but now we have a TOTALLY different kitchen!!
Or just look at some before + afters below!
As you can tell, a lot has changed! We’ve brightened with white paint, wallpaper and open shelving. If you’ve been following along you know that last week we did the wallpaper but still had to attach hardware and build the shelves. We went with a polished nickel hardware, and got it for FREE, thanks to my parents and brother and sister in law!
I love the way it shines and adds to the overall theme of bright + clean! Another look below at the hardware with my new rug and towels. All sources are listed at the bottom!
OUR RECLAIMED OPEN SHELVING:
And, finally a further look at our reclaimed wood shelves! A more detailed post will be coming of how the hubs built these but for now I will briefly describe the process. He used old deck wood that we had from when he built us a new deck. The boards had the factory, rounded edge so he started by cutting that off so the wood grain was exposed. He repeated this many times and pieced together the boards forming this beautiful, thick, wood shelf! We love the natural and rustic look of them as is so we didn’t add any stain. See some pictures below!
I love them!! I’ve now requested he build me some more for our bathroom. And because I can’t get enough of this kitchen here are some more pictures!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this as much as we have! Sources are listed below!
